Packing Tips

• Make sure the box you are using is solid enough for the weight of its contents.
• Place liquids or moisture sensitive items in plastic bags or leak-free containers.
• If shipping multiple items within a single box, ensure each one is wrapped individually and well separated from one another, especially in the case of fragile items.
• Fill any void space with bubble wrap, Styrofoam or other types of material.

• We strongly recommend that any perishables be packaged to remain at the right temperature for the entire trip. When calculating travel time, consider the time between drop-off, loading and unloading, as well as flight times, station stops en-route and the pick-up time to ensure optimal freshness upon arrival.
• Use insulating material to wrap perishable materials.  Ex. Styrofoam
• Gel packs are the recommended refrigerant to keep maintain optimal internal temperature.

• Shipments of 5 kg and less must be packed in an airtight plastic bag and in a sturdy cardboard box.
• Shipments over 5kg must be packed in a sturdy plastic container (such as “Rubbermaid”) in addition to the waterproof plastic bag.

Air Inuit puts your animal’s safety and comfort first.  If you are not traveling with your animal, please follow the requirements below to ensure you’re a stress-free experience:

• The shipper must make the necessary arrangements with Air Inuit at least 24 hours in advance.
• Shipments of live animals must be prepaid.
• The approximate weight and dimensions of the cage must be provided by the shipper at time of booking.
• Air Inuit will not accept animals that are hostile, in an agitated state or emitting foul odors at the time of delivery.
• Cats and dogs under 8 weeks old will not be accepted.
• Live animals will not be accepted on a collect basis. (paid by recipient)
• Certain extra large kennels will not be accepted due to aircraft size, type and availability.
• Animals will not be accepted more than 4 hours prior to flight departure.
• Advanced arrangements for pick-up at destination must be made.
• Kennels must be certified pet carriers free of defects, leak-proof and must provide adequate ventilation for the animal. They also need to be large enough for your animal to stand, turn around completely and lie down.
• Metal wire cages will not be accepted.
• It is recommended to label the kennel with the animal’s name and to fasten a spill proof container (such as a hamster water dispenser) to the kennel for water.
• Consignee’s name, complete address and 24 hour phone number must appear on the cage as well as on the air waybill.
• Only one animal is permitted per kennel.
• Feed the animal only a light meal and drink two hours before scheduled departure.
• Exercise the animal just before leaving for the airport.
• Shipment of females in heat (oestrus) is not advised.
• Females with unweaned litter will not be accepted.
• If the animal is traveling down south to receive treatments, a written confirmation by a veterinary stating that the animal is fit to fly and that is does not pose any risk for cargo handlers is required.
• Overnight kennel service fees may be required for transport in the event of delays due to severe weather or conditions beyond Air Inuit’s control (natural disasters, force majeure, labor disputes, civil unrest, wars, hostilities, etc.).  These charges will be applied to the transportation and collected upon arrival at the animal’s intended destination.

For oversized shipments please contact our cargo department so that we can confirm the feasibility and the best way to carry out the transport on board one of our aircraft.

• Must be packed in a wooden crate.
• We recommend adding styrofoam inserts to ensure items do not shift during transport.
• It is mandatory to label "Fragile" and add orientation stickers (arrows) on the wooden crate.

• Firearms must be unloaded and packed in a locked opaque container or in a rigid container.
• They must also be rendered inoperative by means of a safety interlock device.
• Ammunition must be packaged in accordance with current hazardous materials regulations and separately from the firearm.

• Must be inside the original packaging, including styrofoam, and in a wooden crate.
• Must be labelled with "Fragile" sticker.

• Be sure to completely empty the gas tank.
• It is recommended to cover the vehicle to avoid scratches.
