Baggage Allowance and Excess Baggage

Air Inuit’s baggage allowance depends on the type of aircraft and the type of ticket. Here are the applicable allowances:

Standard Allowance by Aircraft

Aircraft Regular Passengers Ilaujuq or Nunavik 500$
Boeing 737 30 kg (66 lb) 60 kg (132 lb)
Dash-8 or Twin Otter 30 kg (66 lb) 30 kg (66 lb)
King Air 20 kg (44 lb) 30 kg (66 lb)

Please note

  • The 60 kg allowance for Ilaujuq or Nunavik $500 applies only on B737 flights.

  • On all other aircraft, the standard allowance remains in effect (30 kg or 20 kg depending on the aircraft).
  • If your itinerary includes a segment on a turboprop (Dash-8, Twin Otter or King Air), the allowance for that segment will be the turboprop allowance.

General Rules

  • Allowance applies to direct flights or connections operated by Air Inuit.
  • Air Inuit operates on a total weight basis, not a per piece basis. Passengers may check in multiple pieces of baggage as long as the total weight does not exceed the allowed limit.
  • Maximum weight per piece: 32 kg (70 lb)*. Any piece of baggage weighing over 32 kg will not be accepted as checked baggage and must be shipped as cargo.
  • Maximum dimensions per piece: 158 cm (62 in) (sum of height + width + length, including wheels and handles).
  • If your itinerary includes connecting flights with other carriers, we suggest you familiarize yourself with their baggage allowance.
  • Air Inuit does not accept small vehicles powered by lithium batteries (see restrictions and prohibited items).

Tip: Always check the allowance applicable to your aircraft before departure to avoid surprises at check-in.

* Any weight exceeding the total allowance will be charged as excess baggage.

Excess Baggage

Additional fees will be payable at check-in. Excess baggage is always transported on a space-available basis and as per the maximum authorized payload.

Excess baggage will be subject to a fee of $8.40-$9.20/kg (taxes included).
